Support Worker

Now Hiring: EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATOR (ECE/ECEA) for support worker position
Desired start date:  September 2024

Pay rate:  $21–$26 / hour plus BC ECE-WE.  Pay rate is subject to qualifications and experience.

Hours:  14–38 hours per week
Periwinkle Children’s Centre is seeking Early Childhood Educators (ECEs and ECEAs) to join our team in beautiful Kaslo, BC.  Candidates willing to update to ECEA qualification immediately may be considered.

We are looking to fill a full-time and/or part-time support worker position with a warm and enthusiastic Early Childhood Educator/Assistant for the 2024–2025 school year. The Educator will support the daily care and education of the children enrolled in our licensed early childhood program. They will have training and/or experience in working with children with diverse needs and will support inclusion and openness. Our ideal candidate will enjoy art, handwork, singing, storytelling, baking, cooking and gardening. They will hold a deep belief in the wisdom of play and they will embrace risky play. They will have a love for nature and outdoor education. An interest and openness to a Waldorf-inspired approach to early childhood education, as well as the ability to work as part of our team, are essential.

REQUIREMENTS
  • BC Childcare License - ECCE or ECEA
  • Experience and/or training in working with children with diverse needs
  • Experience or interest in Waldorf pedagogical approach to Early Childhood Education
  • Ability to maintain an aesthetically pleasing, clean, safe, and sanitary classroom
  • Punctuality and reliability to meet all scheduled shifts and meetings
  • Ability to adapt and respond to changing conditions and priorities with a positive attitude
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues
  • A clear criminal record check​
